Welcome Autumn: Fall Craft Ideas

As trees turn orange and the air wafts with pumpkin spice, we all know it’s the long-awaited season: alas, it’s autumn! 

October’s calm beauty is best enjoyed by gathering around the crafting table with friends and family. In this blog, you’ll find three simple craft ideas perfect for sharing.

1) Leaf-Printed Tote Bag

Time: 25–40 min | Skill: Easy | Materials: Blank canvas tote, assorted leaves, fabric paint, small foam brush/roller, cardboard, paper towels.

Steps:

1. Slide cardboard inside the tote (so paint won’t bleed).

2. Wipe leaves dry. Place the leaf vein-side up on scrap paper.

3. Use the foam brush to dab a thin, even coat of fabric paint onto the leaf.

4. Flip the leaf onto the tote, then cover with a paper towel, and press firmly for 10–15 seconds.

5. Lift carefully. Repeat with overlapping colors/patterns.

6. Let fabric paint dry as directed on the paint label. Set wth a heat iron or gloss if required.

2) Leaf Wreath

Time: 30–60 min | Skill: Medium | Materials: Wire wreath frame (or cardboard ring), hot glue gun, glue sticks, assorted fake leaves, ribbon (for hanging), optional fake pinecones or berries

Steps:

1. Lay the wreath frame flat on a surface.

2. Begin by hot gluing leaves around the base, slightly overlapping each leaf in one direction. 

3. Continue layering until the frame is fully covered, alternating colors and textures.

4. Add accents like fake pinecones, fake acorns, or fake berries for extra detail.

5. Attach a ribbon loop at the top for hanging.

6. Let the glue fully set before displaying.

3) Painted Pumpkin

Time: 20–45 min | Skill: Easy–Medium| Materials: Pumpkin, acrylic paint, paintbrushes, painter’s tape (optional), stencils (optional), paper plate/palette, sealer spray (optional)

Steps:

1. Wipe the pumpkin clean and dry.

2. If desired, use painter’s tape or stencils to create patterns.

3. Paint the pumpkin with acrylic paint, layering colors as needed for coverage.

4. Add details such as vines, leaves, or metallic accents once the base coat is dry.

5. Allow paint to dry completely.

6. Seal with a clear spray for longer-lasting results.
